Hot Springs Documentary Film Institute offers a creative environment for students interesting in working in a non-profit or artistic field, providing valuable experience towards their personal or professional goals. HSDFI engages interns and volunteers who are currently attending high school, as well as undergraduate and post-graduate college programs, and will work with you to meet the requirements for school credit. We are thrilled to work with aspiring artists, filmmakers, graphic designers, and anyone interested in non-profit, community organization. Apprenticeship and artist-in-residence programs are also available for non-students, on a case-by-case basis.


Intern applicants should be Mac & PC literate and have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Google Drive, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Interns should be energetic, outgoing and enjoy working with the public. Interns need excellent written and oral communications skills, phone etiquette, organizational abilities and ease in working with deadlines. OPERATIONS INTERN: The Operations Intern will assist the Executive Director and Associate Director in the planning and organization of all key aspects of the 10-day festival. From the coordination of travel and the creation of priority checklists to the management of the festival experience for special celebrity guests and filmmakers from around the world,  this position works at the center of all things HSDFF. SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN:  The Social Media Intern is responsible for assisting the Executive Director and Associate Director in implementing HSDFF’s overall communications and marketing plan.  The main focus will be to expand social media exposure for the HSDFF, thereby increasing festival attendance and raising statewide, national and international awareness. WEBSITE MANAGEMENT INTERN: HSDFF is looking for an intern as web developer/ technician to consistently update the festival’s existing website before, during and directly following the festival in October. The Website Management Intern will be responsible for bringing their own creativity and innovation to design new pages and upload content for HSDFF’s website. Must have a strong attention to detail. GRAPHIC’S INTERN: The qualified graphics intern will ideally  be a graphic design major or enrolled in a related degree program. Students should be familiar with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Mac OS and basic office equipment. WordPress and website design experience is a plus, in addition to basic photography and video editing skills.

Job Description: Graphic Design Interns will be responsible for assisting the Artistic Director with layout of the Festival program guide, festival signage as well as with various other graphic design needs.
