"You meet the nicest people when you volunteer"

Erma Bombeck often spoke of the “Special Royal Family of Volunteers” and how their smiles and gifts of time and self added such sparkle to any function. At the HSDFI, we know this “Royal Family” well, for they have graced us with their gifts of time, encouragement and hard work...not just once in a while, but truly and steadfastly from the HSDFI’s beginning in 1992 until this, our 15th year.

Over 500 strong and from all walks of life, our Volunteers donate literally thousands of hours of their time and energy. In doing so, our Volunteers make magic happen in the HSDFI office and theater, screening films, planning Gala events, transporting filmmakers, participating in production, cleaning the theater, editing print materials and delivering programs and so much more that occurs at their private desks or kitchen counters.

We know their faces well. Each Volunteer has become a jewel in the HSDFI’s crown, helping to make it sparkle. And just like any Royal Family, each Volunteer, leaves a unique and sustaining legacy to us at the HSDFI and to our extraordinary community. Thank you Volunteers, each and everyone of you.
